As 1st August is the birthday of Lt. Th. Shiv Shanker Singh Chauhan, so we organized one more ‘Cancer Awareness Camp’ at village Radhapur, dist. Tikamgarh, M.P.
This village is socially and economically backward and most of the people here are illiterate (specially women), but more than 50% of the village population is use to take tobacco (in one form or the other) or alcohol. So we tried to make them aware of the effects of taking tobacco and alcohol. We also tried to convince them to leave these life taking substances, as a result, many villagers vowed to leave these forever.
On 12th August, in our Orchha office, we inaugurated ‘Dream Gallery’ an initiative of Pragati Rath to realize the dreams of the underprivileged people who dream to live a respectful and economically self dependent life, but don’t have the resources or the opportunities to turn these dreams into reality. We started a workshop where we gathered such people and gave them training to make paintings, jute products and hand embroidered garments. These products are to be sold and the money gathered is to be used for their development.
